The MAGUS Metal D650 BD digital metallurgical microscope is suitable for observing the surfaces of photomasks, integrated circuits, printed circuit boards and other long, wide objects. It features a large stage that can accommodate large samples and fine focusing with a value of 0.7 µm for highly precise observations at high magnification. Brightfield, darkfield and polarized light microscopy techniques. The microscope is suitable for quality-control laboratories, research centers and university departments.
Digital camera
The MAGUS CLM30 digital camera is designed for brightfield and darkfield microscopy and fluorescence. The camera is equipped with an 8.3 MP sensor and produces realistic images at a resolution of 3840x2160 px. It is recommended for use with 4x, 10x, 20x and 40x objectives. When using low-magnification objectives, the camera allows the user to see sharper details.
Videos are recorded at 45 fps or 70 fps, depending on the resolution: videos play smoothly, with gentle, seamless transitions between frames. Sample movement is shown in real time, without delay. The camera makes it easy to observe moving objects and is suitable for academic demonstrations.
The camera is equipped with a USB 3.0 interface. The data transfer rate is 10 times faster than that of USB 2.0 cameras. This high-speed camera is recommended for professional laboratories, research and university teaching.
Optics
The trinocular head features a trinocular tube for mounting a digital camera. The light/camera selector knob directs the light beam to the camera for bright, detailed photos and videos that can be viewed on an external screen. The camera is not included in the basic configuration. The left eyepiece has a diopter adjustment ring.
Plan achromatic objectives marked BD are specifically designed for brightfield and darkfield microscopy. The objectives have a long working distance. The kit includes five objectives, one for each position in the revolving nosepiece. Each installed objective can be replaced with an optional one if required. Infinity-corrected optics with magnification from 50x to 800x. The revolving nosepiece faces inward, allowing the user to see which objective is in the optical path.
Illumination
The reflected-light illumination system is designed to provide detailed observations regardless of the objective used or the microscopy technique. The light source is a 50 W halogen lamp that produces bright, warm, uniform light. Köhler illumination can be used to adjust the illumination. Color filters and a polarization unit (integrated analyzer and removable polarizer) are included. The light source, aperture and field diaphragms can be centered. The illumination system also includes a darkfield unit.
Stage and focusing mechanism
The large 280x270 mm stage is a distinctive feature of the microscope. It has a travel range of 204 mm along the X and Y axes. Focus is adjusted by turning the coarse and fine focus knobs. They operate smoothly, and the fine-focus value ensures precise operation at high magnification. The coarse focus has a locking knob, and the tension of the coarse-focus mechanism can be adjusted. The focus knobs are positioned at the base of the microscope, allowing the user to adopt a relaxed, comfortable posture. This way, the operator can rest their hands on the table instead of holding them in the air.
Accessories
To get the most out of the MAGUS Metal 650 BD microscope, you can purchase additional accessories, such as eyepieces, long-working-distance objectives for brightfield and darkfield, calibration slides and digital cameras.

Key camera features:
- For darkfield microscopy and fluorescence with 4x, 10x, 20x and 40x objectives
- 8.3 MP resolution: when observing with low-magnification objectives, the camera allows the user to see sharper details
- 45 fps and 70 fps at resolutions of 3840x2160 pixels and 1920x1080 pixels, respectively, for observing samples with moving components, recording video and moving the specimen without jerks or delays
- The Peltier cell lowers the sensor temperature during prolonged operation and eliminates thermal noise, allowing a long shutter speed to be used when taking photographs.
- The back-illuminated SONY Exmor color CMOS sensor delivers low-noise images and high light sensitivity, even in low-light conditions. It produces sharper, brighter images with saturated colors.
- USB 3.0 interface for fast, smooth data transfer
- Software for recording and editing photos and videos, external display functions, linear and angular measurements
