The MAGUS Bio 250B biological microscope is an optical instrument useful for studying thin, transparent and semitransparent specimens. The main technique used for observations is bright-field microscopy. This microscope can be equipped with additional accessories for dark-field observations, phase-contrast techniques or polarized light. Thanks to its high-quality optics, with additional components that can expand its capabilities, easy-to-use mechanisms and intelligent design, this microscope is an excellent choice for laboratory work, research and teaching.
Optics
The binocular head allows a digital camera to be mounted in one of the eyepiece tubes (camera not included). The eyepiece tubes can be rotated by 360° to adapt the instrument comfortably to the observer’s height. The diopter adjustment ring is located on the left eyepiece tube.
The revolving nosepiece accommodates 5 objectives. The microscope is equipped with infinity-corrected plan achromatic objectives that provide clear, high-contrast images across the entire field of view. The revolving nosepiece has one free slot for an additional objective. The revolving nosepiece and its objectives face inward. This allows the operator to see which objective is in the optical path while keeping the space above the stage clear.
In its basic configuration, the microscope optics provide magnification from 40x to 1000x. If necessary, additional eyepieces can be used to increase the upper limit of the magnification range.
Illumination
Light source: 30 W halogen lamp. This lamp provides bright, uniform illumination of the specimen with any objective lens and observation method, including dark-field and phase-contrast techniques. The warm spectrum of the emitted light is pleasant to look at and comfortable for the eyes, preventing eye strain even during prolonged work with the microscope.
The Abbe condenser has a slot for inserting a dark-field or phase-contrast slider. The condenser design makes it easy and quick to switch from one observation technique to another. The condenser is height-adjustable and can be centered. The field diaphragm enables Köhler illumination to be set up.
Stage and focusing mechanism
The stage is equipped with a mechanical insert that can be removed for manual scanning of the specimen. There is no positioning rack, ensuring ergonomic movement of the stage.
Sharpness is adjusted using two coaxial coarse and fine focus knobs, positioned on both sides of the microscope body. The focusing mechanism is smooth and precise: no excessive force is needed to turn the knobs. The coarse focus has a locking knob, and the tension of the coarse adjustment screw can be adjusted. The focusing knobs are positioned at the base of the microscope. This allows the operator to rest their hands on the table instead of having to adjust the instrument with their arms held in midair. This ensures greater comfort during long work sessions.
