The MAGUS Bio 250BL microscope can be used for laboratory work, scientific research, and teaching. It is designed for observing thin-section samples and smears of biological materials in transmitted light. The main observation method is bright-field microscopy, but dark-field, phase-contrast, or polarized-light observation techniques can also be used (with additional accessories).

Optics

The microscope is supplied with 4 infinity-corrected plan achromatic objectives, which produce detailed images with minimal aberrations. The objectives are mounted on a revolving nosepiece designed to accommodate up to 5 objectives at once. One slot on the nosepiece remains free. This allows a fifth objective lens to be installed for an additional magnification factor within the available magnification range. The revolving nosepiece faces inward.

The microscope head is positioned comfortably, even during extended work sessions. The height of the eyepieces can be adjusted by rotating the optical tubes through 360°. The left optical tube has a diopter adjustment ring and can accommodate a digital camera (not included).

This microscope has a magnification range from 40x to 1000x. The upper limit can be increased by adding additional eyepieces.

Illumination

The LED lights allow brightness to be varied without changing the color temperature. The LED bulbs have a service life of 50000 hours and a power rating of 3 W. The illumination requires a power supply of 220 V.

The illumination system also includes an Abbe condenser with an aperture diaphragm and a slot for a slider. A dark-field slider or a phase-contrast slider can be inserted into this slot. This makes it possible to switch more quickly from one observation method to another. The microscope is also equipped with a field diaphragm, allowing Köhler illumination to be set up.

Stage and focusing mechanism

The microscope’s main mechanical feature is its stage without a positioning rack. This stage is easy to use, and its movement mechanism is not bulky. The specimen is moved using a removable mechanical insert.

The focusing knobs are positioned at the base of the microscope, where they are more convenient to use. You will not need to hold your arms in midair to adjust sharpness, making it possible to adopt a more relaxed posture during observations. The coarse-focusing mechanism has a locking knob, and the coarse-focus tension can be adjusted. A fine-focusing knob is also provided. The knobs are coaxial and positioned on both sides of the microscope base.

Accessories

If the maximum magnification factor of the microscope in its basic configuration is insufficient, it can be increased by installing additional accessories. Various optional accessories are available for the MAGUS Bio 250BL microscope, including eyepieces and objectives, equipment for dark-field, phase-contrast, or polarized-light observation, as well as digital cameras and calibration slides.
