The MAGUS Bio 250TL microscope is used to examine thin-section samples and smears of biological materials. Observations are made using brightfield microscopy and transmitted light. A 3-watt LED provides illumination, and the optics feature infinity-corrected plan achromatic objectives. This microscope can be used with additional accessories, including devices for darkfield, polarized-light or phase-contrast observations. This microscope model is ideal for laboratory analysis, scientific research and teaching.

Optics

The trinocular head consists of two optical tubes for direct observation and a vertical tube for mounting a digital camera (not included). The optical tubes that hold the eyepieces are inclined at 30° for greater comfort during prolonged observations, and can be rotated by 360° to suit the observer's height. A diopter adjustment ring is located on the left optical tube.

The objectives are fitted in a 5-slot nosepiece: 4 objectives are already mounted on the instrument, while one nosepiece slot is left free for an additional objective. Any optional objective can be fitted in the free slot, adding another magnification factor within the available magnification range. The user can see which objective is in the optical path during observation, since the nosepiece faces inward. In addition, this configuration keeps the space above the stage clear.

The microscope's magnification range is from 40x to 1000x (in the basic configuration only). Adding extra objectives increases the maximum magnification.

Illumination

LEDs mounted inside the microscope base provide bright, even illumination of the observed object. The color temperature remains unchanged as brightness varies. The illumination power is 3 W. The LEDs have a service life of up to 50000 hours. The illumination system is powered by AC mains.

By adjusting the position of the Abbe condenser and opening or closing the aperture diaphragm and field diaphragm, Köhler illumination can be set up. Sliders can also be used for darkfield or phase-contrast observation (the condenser has a dedicated slot). Using sliders makes it very quick to switch from one observation method to another.

Stage and focusing mechanism

The stage has no positioning rack. As a result, there is no bulky mechanism to interfere with observations, and the microscope takes up less space on the work surface. The mechanical specimen holder is removable (useful for manual scanning).

The coarse and fine focusing mechanisms are used to adjust sharpness. Their knobs are located on both sides of the microscope. Since they are positioned close to the base, there is no need to keep your arms raised while adjusting sharpness. Your hands can rest comfortably on the table. The coarse focus has a locking knob, and the tension of the coarse-focus knob can be adjusted. Focusing is smooth and effortless.

The capabilities of the MAGUS Bio 250TL microscope can be enhanced with the range of dedicated accessories, which includes eyepieces, objectives, calibration slides, digital cameras and equipment for darkfield, polarized-light or phase-contrast observation.
