The MAGUS Lum 400L fluorescence microscope can be used for two microscopy techniques: reflected-light fluorescence and transmitted-light brightfield. When equipped with additional accessories, the microscope can also be used for polarized-light research and phase-contrast and darkfield techniques. The microscope can be used for laboratory research and diagnostics in medicine, pharmacology, forensic science, biotechnology, veterinary medicine, etc.
Digital camera
MAGUS CHD40 is an HDMI digital camera with three video interfaces and automatic switching between Full HD and 4K based on the monitor resolution.
The camera is equipped with an 8 MP sensor and produces realistic images at a 4K resolution (3840x2160 px) when connected via HDMI or USB 3.0. When connected via Wi-Fi, image quality is Full HD (1920x1080 px).
The camera uses an HDMI interface to connect directly to a TV, monitor, or projector. This allows the camera to operate independently without a PC connection. The HDMI interface enables fast and stable transfer from the camera to an external display. The camera can be connected to a PC via Wi-Fi or USB 3.0. Video is recorded at 30 fps.
The camera combines a high FPS rate with high HDMI bandwidth. As a result, videos are smooth, with no freezing or skipped frames. At the maximum resolution, the image is highly detailed, moving objects are visible without errors, and motion is displayed without delay.
Monitor
The MAGUS MCD40 monitor is designed for use with a MAGUS microscope display system. It connects to a camera mounted on the microscope to display images in real time. It supports cameras with an HDMI connection and 4K resolution. The screen is 13.3 inches. The IPS panel provides bright images with wide viewing angles. When viewed from the side, the display's color reproduction is not distorted. The display can be placed on a table or shelf using a folding stand, or installed directly on the camera or microscope base.
Optics
The trinocular head consists of two optical tubes for observation and a trinocular tube for mounting a digital camera (not included). For comfortable long periods of observation, the eyepiece tubes can be adjusted by rotating them 360° to suit the observer's height. They are inclined at 30°.
The inward-facing revolving nosepiece holds five objectives, allowing the user to see which objective is in the optical path. It is equipped with infinity-corrected plan achromatic objectives: three for brightfield and one for fluorescence (fluorescent). Once all the objectives are installed on the revolving nosepiece, one slot remains available. It is used to adjust the position of the illuminator for reflected-light observation. An optional objective can also be installed to achieve higher magnification.
Illumination
Reflected light: five 5 W LEDs. Each LED falls within one of four specific bands: blue (B), green (G), violet (V) and ultraviolet (UV). Turn the selector ring to choose an LED. LED illumination reaches maximum brightness quickly and switches off quickly, making it easy to switch between brightfield and fluorescence and vice versa. The LEDs do not overheat, do not require a heat sink, and have a service life of 50000 hours before replacement. LED fluorescence is a safe, easy-to-maintain microscopy technique, so its use is recommended in schools and universities.
Transmitted light is produced by a 3 W LED. The LEDs have a service life of 50000 hours. The illumination system also includes a condenser. The condenser has an available slot for a darkfield slider or a phase-contrast slider. The slider makes it quick and easy to switch between microscopy techniques without changing the condenser.
Köhler illumination can be set for transmitted and reflected light. The specimen is sharp and free of image artifacts. The edges do not darken, and each objective achieves its maximum resolution.
Stage and focusing mechanism
The microscope stage is equipped with a removable specimen holder for manual scanning of the specimen. The stage has no positioning rack, so it requires less workspace. A black plate can be installed on the stage to eliminate unwanted light from the transmitted-light source when observing in reflected light.
The coaxial fine-focus (micrometer) and coarse-focus (macrometer) knobs are located on both sides at the base of the microscope. The coarse focus has a locking and tension adjustment knob.
