This microscope is designed for studying the microstructures of metals, alloys, semiconductor materials, and other opaque samples.
The inverted microscope design does not limit the size of the sample being examined; only its weight is limited to 2 kg. The sample to be analyzed must first be suitably prepared, then placed on the stage with the surface of interest facing downward.
The microscope performs three contrast techniques in reflected light: brightfield, simple polarization, and differential interference contrast.
The brightfield method provides a true magnified image of the object. Simple polarization removes reflections from metal surfaces and highlights polymers and other foreign elements. Differential interference contrast colors height differences on an object, revealing its topography. The object being studied will appear in relief.
The trinocular tube and the side camera port allow simultaneous connection to a monitor and a camera.
The microscope can be used in various fields (metallurgy, engineering, the aerospace and nuclear industries, and the energy sector), as well as in research laboratories and technical universities.
Microscope head
Tube focal length: infinity (∞). When assembling the microscope, the user can rotate the optical tubes by 180° and adjust the interpupillary distance to adapt the instrument to their height. The instrument is equipped with a trinocular head.
The monitor is mounted in the third tube of the trinocular head, while the digital camera can be installed in the dedicated side port. The beam splitter on the trinocular head is 50/50 (tube open) or 100/0 (tube closed), while on the body it is 100/0 or 0/100.
Nosepiece
The 5-objective nosepiece is installed on the stand, beneath the stage.
The nosepiece has a special slot for a DIC slider used with the differential interference contrast method and 5x, 10x, and 20x objectives.
Objectives
Long-working-distance plan achromatic objectives are designed for brightfield, simple polarization, and differential interference contrast methods. For darkfield microscopy, choose the MAGUS Metal V700 BD.
Focusing mechanism
The coaxial fine-focus (micrometer) and coarse-focus (macrometer) knobs are located on both sides at the base of the microscope. The user can rest their hands on the table and maintain a relaxed posture during observation. Focusing is smooth and effortless.
On the right is the coarse-focus (macrometer) locking knob, for quick adjustment after changing the sample. On the left is the tension adjustment wheel for focusing.
Mechanical stage
The object is moved by shifting the stage along two axes. A round, rotatable plate with a hole of diameter 10 mm, 20 mm, or 30 mm is installed in the center of the stage. A specimen holder/slide holder is used to keep the observed object in position.
Light source
The lamp housing holds a 50 W halogen lamp. It provides sufficient light intensity for objectives from 4x to 100x, used for brightfield, polarized light, or differential interference contrast microscopy. The halogen lamp emits light with a color temperature that ensures greater visual comfort.
Reflected-light illumination
The illumination system allows Köhler illumination to be set up. The aperture and field diaphragms are centered by default and do not require further adjustment. If necessary, the diaphragms can be adjusted using the centering screws. The light source is centered along three axes. The removable analyzer and polarizer are required for polarized-light microscopy techniques. The polarizer rotates from 0° to 360°, while the analyzer is fixed.
The DIC prism slider is used with the differential interference contrast method and 5x, 10x, and 20x objectives.
A set of filters can help modify color reproduction.
Accessories
Using additional accessories improves the microscope's technical performance. Eyepieces and objectives increase the magnification range. A digital camera transmits the observed image to a computer screen or monitor. Calibration slides help measure observed objects.
