Synthetic violet absorbable suture VCP397H FS2 4-0 VICRYL PLUS

This absorbable, antibacterial, braided violet suture is made from a copolymer of glycolic acid and lactic acid (polyglactin 910). The coating includes polyglactin 370, calcium stearate and Irgacare MP (Triclosan), offering protection against the most common surgical-site infections. It maintains the same handling characteristics and surgical performance as Vycril.

The copolymer with a broad-spectrum antibacterial coating prevents colonization by Staphylococci and methicillin-resistant strains. The suture retains a tensile strength of 75% after 2 weeks and 50% after 3 weeks, ensuring holding strength on the tissue edges for up to 35 days after surgery. Absorption occurs by hydrolysis, is minimal until day 40°, and is complete between day 56° and day 70°. It is particularly indicated for approximation and/or ligation of soft tissues and is sterilized with ethylene oxide.
