The Vicryl Rapid Braided Suture is a sterile, absorbable surgical suture that is ideal for soft tissue approximation when temporary wound support is needed. Composed of polyglactin 910, a copolymer of glycolic acid (90%) and lactic acid (10%), it offers similar performance to collagen sutures.

Vicryl Rapid sutures are designed for rapid absorption, ideal for wounds that only require support for 7-10 days. They are not suitable for ligament surgery, ophthalmic, cardiovascular or neurological surgery. Absorption is done by hydrolysis, starting with loss of tensile strength followed by loss of mass.
