The absorbable ETHICON Vicryl Rapide V226H suture is a sterile surgical solution, designed to provide optimal performance in medical applications. Made of polyglactin 910, this braided and coated synthetic suture consists of a copolymer of glycolic acid (90%) and lactic acid (10%). Its properties are designed to emulate the performance of collagen sutures.
Vicryl Rapide sutures are ideal for approximating soft tissues where temporary wound support is needed, generally between 7 and 10 days, with rapid absorption. They are not recommended for procedures involving ligaments, or for ophthalmic, cardiovascular or neurological surgery. Absorption occurs through hydrolysis, beginning with loss of tensile strength followed by loss of mass, and is complete in 42 days.
