The MAGUS Metal 650 metallurgical microscope features a large stage for positioning photomasks, printed circuit boards, integrated circuits, and other long, wide samples for examination in reflected light. Brightfield and polarized light observations are possible. The microscope provides high-precision focusing. A fine focusing increment of 0.7 µm facilitates examination at high magnification. It is used for research at industrial facilities and for training engineering students.

Digital camera

The MAGUS CBF30 digital camera lets you take photographs and record short videos through a microscope, edit the resulting files, organize presentations, and perform linear and angular measurements of objects (after proper calibration).
The device is designed for use with microscopes in brightfield mode and with 4x, 10x, 20x, and 40x objectives.

The 6.3 MP sensor allows you to take photos and produce bright, detailed videos at a maximum resolution of 3072x2048 px. If necessary, the resolution can be reduced to 1536x1024 px. However, this will not affect the frame rate, which will remain at 59 fps, ensuring smooth frame transitions without stuttering or delays.

The back-illuminated SONY Exmor color CMOS sensor also allows the camera to be used in low-light conditions. The image will remain clear and bright. Using an adapter with magnification from 0,5x to 0,75x provides the clearest possible image without distortion.

Optics

The infinity-corrected plan achromatic optics produce sharp, highly detailed images. The microscope head is trinocular, inclined at 30°, and has a trinocular tube for mounting a digital camera. The camera (not included) captures photos and videos of the sample under examination and displays the microscope image on an external screen. There is a two-position beam splitter: 100:0 and 0:100. The light beam is directed to either the eyepiece or the camera. A diopter adjustment ring is located on the left eyepiece tube.

The 5 objectives, all included in the kit, can be installed on the revolving nosepiece. To achieve higher magnification, optional objectives can be installed in place of the supplied ones. In its basic configuration, the microscope provides magnification from 50 to 800x. The revolving nosepiece faces inward, allowing the user to see which objective is in the optical path.

Illumination

The reflected-light illumination system combines three centering elements: the light source, field diaphragm, and aperture diaphragm. The illuminator with a 30 W halogen lamp emits warm-toned light that helps prevent eye strain during prolonged use. Brightness can be adjusted, and Köhler illumination can be set up. The reflected-light illumination system also has a polarization device: an integrated analyzer and a removable rotating polarizer. A set of color filters is included.

Stage and focusing mechanism

The microscope’s most notable design feature is the 280x270 mm stage, which can be moved along two axes by up to 204 mm. This allows large samples to be observed and their surfaces to be examined easily. The coarse and fine focus knobs are coaxial and located on both sides of the microscope; they include a lock knob and a coarse focus tension adjustment knob. The grip is close to the microscope base. You can rest your hands comfortably on the table while observing.

Accessories

Accessories compatible with the MAGUS Metal 650 microscope include eyepieces, long working distance objectives, digital cameras, and calibration slides. These accessories can be used to expand the microscope’s capabilities.
