A stereoscopic microscope is an indispensable instrument for the detailed study of three-dimensional specimens, as it reproduces an object's virtual volume and allows its structure to be examined, providing a clear image of its topography. The device is equipped with illuminators for reflected- and transmitted-light observation, enabling work with opaque and transparent specimens. Polarized-light and dark-field methods are also available for observation.
The advantages of the Greenough-type optical system are its great depth of field and the three-dimensional image, thanks to the stereoscopic angle of 15°. A stereoscopic microscope magnifies an object and shows its spatial position, producing an upright image. The microscope is therefore ideal for manipulating objects within a working area from 105 to 177 millimeters. Stereoscopic microscopes are widely used for quality control in restoration, assembly, welding, jewelry-making, and similar processes.
The MAGUS Stereo 7B microscope head has 2 eyepiece tubes. If necessary, a digital camera can be inserted into either tube. For comfortable and effective observation, the head can be rotated by 360° and locked in any position. The microscope is supplied with 2 10x eyepieces with a field of view of 22 mm. Diopter adjustment is available directly on the eyepieces, and the eye relief is a convenient distance for eyeglass wearers.
The zoom objective changes the magnification of the object by 6,7x without blurring the image. The image is three-dimensional and upright. Magnification or field of view can be increased, and the working distance changed, by using auxiliary objectives with different magnifications.
The MAGUS Stereo 7B model has coarse focusing only. There are two focusing knobs, one on each side of the stand. The tension of the focusing movement can be adjusted.
The stage comes with two different plates. One is transparent for observations in transmitted light, when the light is diffused to provide the object with soft, even illumination. The other plate is black and white; it is placed on the stage according to the contrast of the object being observed and is used for opaque specimens.
The microscope is equipped with illuminators for transmitted- and reflected-light observation. Reflected light provides oblique illumination. Both illuminators use 3 W LEDs with a service life of 50000 hours.
The microscope can be equipped with a wide range of separately purchased accessories. These include eyepieces and auxiliary objectives that provide different magnifications and change the microscope's field of view and working distance. Digital cameras with a wide range of features allow images to be viewed on a screen or observations to be documented. Calibration slides are available for measuring objects. For studies using dark-field or polarized-light methods, the microscope can be equipped with a dark-field condenser or a polarizing device, respectively. Several illuminators are available to expand the microscope's capabilities: a conventional ring illuminator, a ring illuminator with a polarizer or sector switch, and a flexible illuminator. Different types of stands allow the microscope head to be positioned optimally over the work surface, thereby expanding the working area.
