The MAGUS Metal VD700 BD digital metallurgical microscope is an inverted metallurgical microscope: this means that the nosepiece is positioned below the specimen and observations are made using reflected light. Available microscopy techniques: brightfield, darkfield or polarized light. This microscope is used to examine metals, alloys, semiconductor materials and other large, opaque materials weighing up to 2 kg. It is widely used in industrial facilities, factories, quality-control laboratories, universities and research centers.
Digital camera
The MAGUS CLM30 digital camera is designed for brightfield and darkfield microscopy and fluorescence. The camera is equipped with an 8.3 MP sensor and produces realistic images at a resolution of 3840x2160 px. We recommend using the camera with 4x, 10x, 20x and 40x objectives. When using low-magnification objectives, the camera allows users to see finer details.
Videos are recorded at 45 fps or 70 fps, depending on the resolution: videos play smoothly, with seamless transitions between frames. Specimen movement is shown in real time, without delays. The camera makes it easy to observe moving objects and is suitable for academic demonstrations.
The camera is equipped with a USB 3.0 interface. The data transfer rate is 10 times faster than that of USB 2.0 cameras. This high-speed camera is recommended for professional laboratories, research or university training.
Optics
The microscope design allows the head to be assembled in the standard position or rotated by 180°. A digital camera and monitor can be installed: the microscope head has a trinocular tube, and the stand has a side camera port. Both optical paths have a beam splitter: with ratios of 50:50 and 100:0 for the microscope head, and 100:0 and 0:100 for the stand.
A nosepiece for 5 objectives is positioned below the specimen being observed. There are 4 slots for installing the objectives included in the package and one additional slot for an extra objective. All objectives for this microscope are labeled BD, meaning they are specifically designed for both brightfield and darkfield microscopy, and have a long working distance.
Illumination
Light source: 50 W halogen lamp. The warm light reduces eye strain and is ideal for spending long hours working with the microscope. Thanks to the powerful illumination, sharp, detailed images can be obtained using any microscopy technique and any objective. The light source can be centered along all three axes, and Köhler illumination can be adjusted using the field and aperture diaphragms. The illumination system for reflected-light observations also includes a polarizing device and the necessary equipment for darkfield microscopy.
Stage and focusing mechanism
A round, rotatable plate is positioned at the center of the stage. Different plates can be used, depending on the type of observation: they differ in the diameter of the aperture: 10 mm, 20 mm or 30 mm. After positioning the specimen on the stage, it can be secured with a holder. The specimen moves together with the stage in two directions: along the X-axis and the Y-axis. The coarse focusing mechanism (with a coarse-focus knob featuring a locking knob and tension adjustment) and the fine focusing mechanism are used to adjust sharpness. The coaxial coarse and fine focusing knobs (macro- and micrometer screws) are positioned on both sides, allowing you to rest your hands on the table while using the microscope, rather than having to hold them in mid-air while adjusting the instrument.
Accessories
Adding further accessories to the MAGUS Metal V700 BD microscope can enhance its performance. The accessory range includes eyepieces, long-working-distance objectives for darkfield and brightfield, digital cameras and calibration slides.
Key microscope features:
- Stage with a round plate and apertures of 10 mm, 20 mm and 30 mm; suitable for examining large, heavy specimens
- Brightfield, darkfield and polarized-light microscopy techniques
- The microscope head can be rotated by 180° during installation
- Two options for mounting a digital camera and installing a monitor: the trinocular tube and the side camera port; beam splitter ratios: 100:0 and 0:100 in the microscope stand, 50:50 and 100:0 in the trinocular head
- Powerful halogen lamp illumination (50 W) for comfortable observations using darkfield techniques, with brightness control, Köhler illumination, color filters and a light source that can be centered along three axes
- Optional accessories to enhance microscope performance
Key camera features:
- For darkfield microscopy and fluorescence with 4x, 10x, 20x and 40x objectives
- 8.3 MP resolution: when observing with low-magnification objectives, the camera allows users to see finer details
- 45 fps and 70 fps, at resolutions of 3840x2160 pixels and 1920x1080 pixels, respectively, for observing specimens with moving elements, recording videos and moving the specimen without jerks or delays
- The Peltier cell lowers the sensor temperature during prolonged operation and eliminates thermal noise, making it possible to use a long shutter speed when taking photographs.
- The back-illuminated color SONY Exmor CMOS sensor delivers low-noise images and high light sensitivity, even in low-light conditions. It is possible to obtain sharper, brighter images with saturated colors.
- USB 3.0 interface for fast, smooth data transfer
- Software for recording and editing photos and videos, external display functions, and linear and angular measurements
