MAGUS Bio 230T is a trinocular biological microscope for professional observation in medical, pharmaceutical, forensic, biotechnological, and other laboratories and research centers. It is suitable for observing semitransparent biological specimens and naturally transparent samples: thin sections and smears. Using achromatic objectives and a halogen lamp, samples are analyzed by transmitted-light microscopy (brightfield). The microscope’s design allows additional accessories to be installed for use with other microscopy techniques: darkfield, phase contrast, and polarized light.

Optics

The trinocular head has a vertical tube for mounting a digital camera. The camera (not included) is an excellent solution for creating a digital archive of your observations and can be used to transmit images to an external monitor. The optical tubes can be rotated by 360° to adjust their height to the observer. The left tube has a diopter adjustment ring.

The nosepiece faces inward, leaving the space above the stage unobstructed. Five objectives can be mounted on the nosepiece at the same time (4 are included in the package, and a fifth slot is left empty for an additional objective). In their standard configuration, the infinity-corrected objectives provide magnification from 40x to 1000x. With additional eyepieces, magnification can be increased to 1500x, 1600x, or 2000x.

Illumination

The halogen lamp produces warm-colored illumination, which is less tiring on the eyes and ideal for those who work at a microscope for many hours. The lamp is rated at 30 W, so the brightness and contrast of the transmitted image are high with any type of objective or observation technique.

The Abbe condenser is height-adjustable and can be centered. Illumination is controlled by adjusting the field diaphragm and iris diaphragm; Köhler illumination can also be set up for improved image clarity. The condenser has a slot for a darkfield or phase-contrast slider, making it quicker and easier to switch between various microscopy techniques.

Stage and focusing mechanism

There is no rack-and-pinion positioning mechanism for the stage. This is an advantage in the design of the mechanical stage translator, as it makes the microscope easier to use. The sample can be moved smoothly across the stage. The mechanical insert is removable (it can be removed for manual scanning).

Coarse and fine focusing can be adjusted (coarse- and fine-focus knobs); the focusing knobs move smoothly and easily, with no effort required. The coarse focusing mechanism has a locking knob, and the tension of the coarse-focus knob can be adjusted. The coaxial focusing knobs are positioned to ensure maximum comfort during long observation sessions: they are located on the microscope base, allowing the observer to rest their hands comfortably on the table.

Accessories

To maximize the capabilities of the MAGUS Bio 230T microscope, it can be upgraded with various accessories. These may include eyepieces and objectives, digital cameras and calibration slides, darkfield condensers, polarizers, and equipment for phase-contrast observation.
