Research microscope. Designed for observing transparent and translucent biological specimens, such as smears and cross-sections, in transmitted light using the brightfield method. Installing additional accessories enables darkfield, phase contrast, fluorescence, and polarization methods.
The coded nosepiece maintains a comfortable brightness level when changing objectives. The microscope’s intelligent illumination control increases the comfort and speed of the researcher’s work. Thanks to the “intelligent” functions, there is no need to worry about the settings; the user can focus entirely on solving their tasks.
Microscope head
Trinocular head with infinity-corrected optics. The eyepiece tubes can rotate through 360°. The user can adjust the eyepiece interpupillary distance to suit their height. A digital camera can be installed in the trinocular tube. The beam splitter along the optical path has a ratio of 50/50. The basic kit includes 10x eyepieces with 22 mm field of view, diopter adjustment, and long eye relief for use with glasses.
Nosepiece and objectives
The coded nosepiece accommodates 5 objectives and faces inward: the user can see which objective is in the optical path, while the space above the stage remains clear. Alternatively, an additional objective can be installed in the empty slot for extra magnification. The parfocal distance is 60 mm.
The nosepiece has a slot with a socket for installing the analyzer.
Maintaining comfortable brightness levels when changing magnification
Objectives with different magnifications transmit light at different intensities, so the brightness must be adjusted each time the objective is changed. In addition, the brightness increases sharply when switching from a higher-magnification objective to a lower-magnification one. The sharp increase in brightness causes eye strain. MAGUS Bio 270T is equipped with intelligent brightness control. The optimal light intensity level is switched automatically for each objective, eliminating unexpected changes in brightness when changing magnification. This feature optimizes workflow and reduces eye strain.
Focusing mechanism
When studying a large number of specimens, the operator constantly uses the fine-focus knob. To reduce wrist strain, the microscope has a responsive mechanism with smooth travel. The fine-focus knob has special grooves for the fingers. Fine focusing requires little effort, and the right hand does not get tired.
The coarse- and fine-focus knobs are coaxial and positioned low. The researcher can rest their hands on the table and sit comfortably at the microscope.
The coarse-focus lock knob helps quickly adjust the microscope after changing the specimen. The knob is located on the left side of the microscope, on the same axis as the focusing mechanism.
The ring on the right side adjusts the tension of the coarse-focus knob. The user can set the appropriate tension for observations.
Stage
To ensure ergonomic use, the stage has no rack-and-pinion positioning mechanism along the X-axis. The belt-driven mechanism allows smooth specimen movement. The specimen holder is secured with two screws and can be easily removed for manual scanning.
The stage’s long control handle ensures comfortable observations: the hand rests on the stage without effort.
Condenser
The Abbe condenser is height-adjustable and can be centered. Mounting type: dovetail.
The condenser ring adjusts the iris aperture diaphragm. The condenser body has an aperture mark, and the ring has an indicator mark. To achieve contrast with each objective, turn the ring so that the indicator mark aligns with the aperture mark for the objective in use.
Illumination
The transmitted-light illuminator contains a 3 W LED. The microscope illuminator allows the color temperature to be adjusted between 3000 and 7000 K. The user can select a comfortable color temperature and easily change it at the touch of a button when the specimen requires a change in illumination.
The LED service life is 50000 hours.
Transmitted-light Köhler illumination
The light source is located in the base at the rear of the microscope, and a mirror directs the light toward the collector. Image contrast is adjusted using the condenser aperture diaphragm, while the illuminated field area is adjusted using the collector’s field diaphragm.
Köhler illumination improves the image quality of the specimen being observed: each objective achieves its maximum resolution, and the field of view is evenly illuminated without darkening at the edges. The specimen is sharp and free of image artifacts.
LCD status display
The LCD on the microscope base displays the objective magnification, brightness, and light-source color temperature, as well as the operating mode (“standby,” “eco”).
Using the display and its associated knob, the user adjusts brightness, selects the color temperature, locks the brightness adjustment, and sets standby mode and the automatic shutoff timer.
Ergonomic design
Physical discomfort causes fatigue and reduces productivity. The ergonomic design of the microscope plays an important role in everyday scientific research. MAGUS Bio 270T provides user comfort during work.
By rotating the microscope head, the user can select the viewing height to avoid straining the back and neck.
The focusing knobs are positioned at the base of the microscope, so the user does not strain their hands. Thanks to the mechanism’s smooth movement, the user can focus on the specimen with ease.
The microscope requires minimal hand movement to operate, thanks to the long stage handle and focusing handle being located in the same working area.
The microscope is equipped with a special carrying handle.
The concealed position of the power supply and power cable improves the appearance of the workspace and safety when transporting the microscope, as well as making it easier to store the device.
Accessories
A range of accessories has been designed for this microscope.
Optional objectives provide additional magnifications.
Eyepieces extend the microscope’s magnification range. Optional eyepieces help maximize the potential of the objective used most often.
The phase contrast device, reflected-light illuminator, darkfield condensers, and polarization device extend contrast techniques and enable examination of specimens invisible in brightfield.
A digital camera displays the microscope image on a monitor and saves files, while the software measures specimens in real time.
A calibration slide can be used to measure specimens and combined with a graduated eyepiece or camera software.
