The MAGUS Lum 400 fluorescence microscope is designed for diagnostics and research and can be used for fluorescence (reflected light) and bright field (transmitted light) microscopy methods. With additional instruments, it is possible to use polarization, dark field and phase contrast techniques. Areas of application of the fluorescence microscope: DNA analysis, pathogen study, health and epidemiological surveillance, forensic expertise, etc.
Digital camera
MAGUS CHD40 is an HDMI digital camera with three video interfaces and automatic switching between Full HD and 4K based on the monitor resolution.
The camera features an 8 MP sensor and produces lifelike images at 4K resolution (3840x2160 px) when connected via HDMI or USB 3.0. When connected via Wi-Fi, the image quality is Full HD (1920x1080 px).
The camera uses an HDMI interface to connect directly to a TV, monitor or projector. This way, the camera works independently without a connection to a PC. The HDMI interface enables fast and stable transfer speed from the camera to the external display. You can connect the camera to a PC via Wi-Fi or USB 3.0. The video is recorded at 30 fps.
The camera combines high FPS speed and high HDMI bandwidth. Videos are therefore brilliant without any blocks or jumps between frames. At maximum resolution, the image is very detailed, moving objects are visible without errors and the moving object is displayed without delays.
Monitor
The MAGUS MCD40 monitor is designed to use a MAGUS microscope display system. It is connected to a camera mounted on the microscope to display images in real time. It supports cameras with HDMI connection and 4K resolution. The screen is 13.3 inches. The IPS matrix provides bright images with wide viewing angles. When looking at the display from the side, the color reproduction is not distorted. You can place the display on a table or shelf using a foldable stand or install it directly on the camera or microscope base.
Optics
It is a trinocular microscope: the binocular head is inclined at 30° and the digital camera (not included) is installed on the trinocular tube. The eyepiece tubes are rotatable at 360° so it is easy to adjust them to suit the height of the user.
Five objectives can be installed in the nosepiece. Four planachromatic infinity objectives are included. One of them is fluorescent with 40x magnification and is designed for fluorescence observations. 4x, 10x and 100x objectives are used for the brightfield microscopy technique. An additional objective can be mounted in the available slot of the nosepiece to achieve higher magnification within the magnification range of the microscope.
The nosepiece revolver is oriented towards the inside of the instrument, so that the user can see which objective is inserted in the optical path.
Lighting
The reflected light source is a 100W mercury vapor lamp. It is located in the lamp housing which provides efficient heat dissipation: the lamp does not overheat even after long hours of operation. The lamp can be centered on three axes to provide optimal illumination of the work area. If it needs replacing, it can be simply removed and installed. The mercury vapor lamp is suitable for fluorescent pigments because they have distinct peaks. The reflected light illuminator contains four excitation filters: ultraviolet (UV), violet (V), blue (B) and green (G).
Transmitted light source: 30W halogen lamp. It has enough intensity to work with any objective, regardless of magnification. Thanks to the color temperature of the illumination, even long-term observations are easy on the eyes. The illumination system also includes a condenser. There is a slot for a slider (contrast phase or dark field).
In transmitted and reflected light, the Köhler illumination method can be set. With this illumination method, the edges do not darken, the specimen is clearly visible and the image is free of artifacts.
Stage and focusing mechanism
The microscope is equipped with an ergonomic stage without a positioning rack. For reflected light observations, a black plate should be placed on the stage, in order to reduce any unwanted light. The specimen plate can be removed, if necessary, by loosening two screws. The focusing knobs are coaxial and are located on both sides of the microscope. The coarse focusing mechanism is equipped with a fixing and tension adjustment knob and the fine focusing is for adjusting the sharpness.
Accessories
The MAGUS Lum 400 microscope can be equipped with additional accessories: digital camera, phase contrast device, polarization device, dark field condenser, eyepieces and objectives, phase contrast and dark field sliders. If you want to measure objects, you can equip the microscope with a calibration slide.
