The MAGUS Metal V700 inverted metallurgical microscope is suitable for studying the microstructures of metals, alloys, and semiconductor materials in reflected light. The stage can support samples weighing up to 2 kg (only the bottom surface of the sample needs to be flat). The other parts of the sample do not need to be prepared and can have any shape. This microscope is designed for brightfield and polarized-light observations, is equipped with a side camera port and a trinocular head, and is suitable for a wide range of laboratory and industrial production applications.

Optics

The microscope is equipped with a specially designed trinocular head that allows the eyepiece position to be adjusted; the head can also be rotated by 180°. The digital camera is installed in the dedicated side port on the microscope frame, and a monitor can be mounted in the third tube of the trinocular head. The beam splitter in the microscope body diverts the light beam at a ratio of 100:0 and 0:100, while the beam splitter in the trinocular head has a ratio of 50:50 and 100:0.

The revolving nosepiece is positioned beneath the sample being examined and has 5 slots for objectives (all included in the basic configuration). All objectives are infinity-corrected plan achromats with a long working distance. An additional objective can be mounted in place of one of the supplied ones. In its basic configuration, the microscope offers a total magnification range from 50x to 1000x.

Illumination

The reflected-light illuminator has a 30 W halogen bulb with adjustable brightness. It is powered by AC mains. The brightness is sufficient for observations with all the included objectives using brightfield or polarized-light microscopy techniques. Köhler illumination can be set up, and the light source can be centered along all three axes. The supplied color filters can be used to modify color rendition in photomicrograph images. Polarizing components are also available: a removable analyzer and polarizer.

Stage and focusing mechanism

The stage accommodates a round plate with an aperture of 10 mm, 20 mm, or 30 mm, to which the sample being observed is secured with a holder. The stage is fairly large (242x200 mm) and moves along two axes together with the sample secured to it. Image sharpness can be adjusted using the coarse and fine focus knobs (macro- and micrometer screws). The tension of the coarse-focus knob can be adjusted, and a locking knob is provided.

Additional accessories make it possible to get the most out of the MAGUS Metal V700 microscope. Eyepieces, long-working-distance plan achromatic objectives, calibration slides, and digital cameras are available.
