VICRYL RAPID BRAIDED - Sterile absorbable surgical suture
Vicryl Rapid sutures (polyglactin 910) are braided and coated synthetic absorbable sutures composed of a copolymer of glycolic acid (90%) and lactic acid (10%). Vicryl Rapid's characteristics are designed to emulate the performance of collagen sutures.
Indicated for soft tissue approximation where only brief wound support (7-10 days) and rapid suture absorption are required. Not suitable for ligament, ophthalmic, cardiovascular, or neurological surgery. Loss of tensile strength and absorption occur through hydrolysis, beginning with loss of tensile strength followed by loss of mass.
