This microscope is designed for the study of microstructures of metals, alloys, semiconductor materials, and other opaque samples.
The inverted microscope design does not limit the size of the examined sample, only its weight is limited to up to 2 kg. The sample to be analyzed must first be properly processed, then placed on the stage with the surface of interest downwards.
The microscope performs three contrast techniques in reflected light: brightfield, simple polarization, and differential interference contrast.
The brightfield method allows for an authentic, magnified image of the object. Simple polarization removes reflection from metal surfaces and highlights polymers and other foreign elements. Differential interference contrast colors the difference in height of an object by revealing its topography. The object of study will appear in relief.
The trinocular tube and side camera port allow simultaneous connection to a monitor and a camera.
The microscope can be used in various fields (metallurgy, engineering, aerospace, nuclear and energy industries) as well as in research laboratories and technical universities.
Microscope head
Tube focal length: infinite (∞). During the assembly of the microscope, the user can rotate the optical tubes 180° and adjust the eye relief to fit the instrument to their height. The instrument is equipped with a trinocular head.
The monitor is housed in the third tube of the trinocular head, while the digital camera can be installed in the appropriate side port. The beam splitter on the trinocular head is 50/50 (open tube) or 100/0 (closed tube), while on the body it is 100/0 or 0/100.
Nosepiece Revolver
The 5-objective objective revolver is installed on the stand, below the stage.
The nosepiece has a special DIC slider housing used with the differential interference contrast method with 5x, 10x and 20x objectives.
Objectives
Planachromatic objectives with long working distance are designed for brightfield, simple polarization, and differential interference contrast methods. For darkfield microscopy, choose the Magus Metal V700 BD.
Focus mechanism
The coaxial fine (micrometer screw) and coarse (coarse screw) focus knobs are positioned on both sides at the base of the microscope. The user can place their hands on the table and assume a relaxed pose while observing. Adjusting the sharpness is smooth and effortless.
On the right, there is the coarse focus fixing knob (coarse screw), for quick adjustment after changing the sample. On the left side, there is the tension adjustment wheel for focusing.
Mechanical stage
The object is moved by moving the stage along two axes. A round, swivel plate with a hole diameter of 10 mm, 20 mm or 30 mm is installed in the center of the table. To keep the observed object in place, a specimen support/slide holder system is used.
Light source
The bulb housing houses a 50W halogen lamp. It has sufficient light intensity for objectives from 4x up to 100x, used for brightfield, polarized light or differential interference contrast microscopy techniques. The halogen lamp emits light with a colour temperature that ensures greater eye comfort.
Reflected light illumination
The lighting system makes it possible to set up Köhler lighting. The aperture and field diaphragms are centered by default and do not require further adjustment. If necessary, the diaphragms can be adjusted using the centring screws. The light source is centered along three axes. The removable analyzer and polarizer are required for polarized light microscopy techniques. The polarizer rotates from 0° to 360°, while the analyzer is fixed.
The DIC prism slider is used with the differential interference contrast method with 5x, 10x and 20x objectives.
A set of filters can help you change the color reproduction.
Fixings
The use of additional accessories improves the technical performance of the microscope. Eyepieces and objectives increase the magnification range. A digital camera transmits the observed image to a computer screen or monitor. Calibration slides help to make measurements of the observed objects.
