The MAGUS Bio 250TL microscope is used to examine samples in thin sections and smears of biological materials. Observations are made using bright-field microscopy with transmitted light. A 3-watt LED provides illumination, and the optics feature infinity-corrected plan achromatic objectives. This microscope can be used with additional accessories, including devices for dark-field, polarized-light or phase-contrast observations. This microscope model is ideal for laboratory analysis, scientific research and teaching.
Digital camera
Full-color digital camera with a SONY Exmor CMOS sensor, 2.1 MP. The sensor is manufactured using back-illumination technology to reduce light scattering and increase the sensitivity of the array (8935 mV at 1/30 s). The camera produces sharp, bright images even in low-light conditions. Designed for bright-field and dark-field observations using objectives with magnifications of 40x, 60x and 100x.
The camera can be mounted on a microscope in two different ways: on the trinocular tube using a C-mount adapter, or in place of the eyepiece on the tube using an adapter and adapter rings. For use with the camera, an adapter with magnification from 0,6x to 0,9x is recommended, as it will provide the widest possible field of view without distortion. Once installed, the camera connects to a computer via a USB 3.0 port with a data transfer rate of 5 Gbps.
Optics
The trinocular head consists of two optical tubes for direct observation and a vertical tube for mounting a digital camera (not included). The optical tubes holding the eyepieces are inclined at 30° for greater comfort during prolonged observations, and can be rotated by 360° to suit the observer’s height. A diopter adjustment ring is located on the left optical tube.
The objectives are mounted on a 5-slot revolving nosepiece: 4 objectives are already installed on the instrument, while one nosepiece slot remains free for an additional objective. Any optional objective can be inserted into the free slot, allowing an additional magnification factor to be added within the available magnification range. During observation, users can see which objective is in the optical path, as the revolving nosepiece faces inward. This configuration also leaves the space above the stage unobstructed.
The microscope’s magnification range is from 40x to 1000x (in the basic configuration only). Adding extra objectives will increase the maximum magnification.
Illumination
LEDs mounted inside the microscope base provide bright, even illumination of the specimen. The color temperature remains unchanged as the brightness varies. The illumination power is 3 W. The LEDs have a service life of up to 50000 hours. The illumination system is powered by AC mains.
By adjusting the position of the Abbe condenser and opening or closing the aperture diaphragm and field diaphragm, Köhler illumination can be set up. Sliders can also be used for dark-field or phase-contrast observation techniques (the condenser has a dedicated slot). Using the sliders makes it very quick to switch from one observation method to another.
Stage and focusing mechanism
The stage has no positioning rack. As a result, there is no bulky mechanism to interfere with observations, and the microscope takes up less space on the work table. The mechanical specimen-moving insert is removable (useful for manual scanning).
The coarse and fine focusing mechanisms are used to adjust sharpness. Their knobs are located on both sides of the microscope. Because they are positioned close to the base, there is no need to keep your arms raised while adjusting sharpness. Your hands can remain comfortably resting on the table. The coarse focus has a locking knob, and the tension of the coarse focus screw can be adjusted. Focusing is smooth and effortless.
Accessories
The capabilities of the MAGUS Bio 250TL microscope can be expanded with the dedicated range of accessories, which includes eyepieces, objectives, calibration slides, digital cameras, and equipment for dark-field, polarized-light or phase-contrast observation.
