Description
The Welch Allyn sphygmomanometer equipped with gearless and impact-resistant DuraShock technology offers enormous practical advantages over traditional sphygmomanometers. Especially appreciable in the hectic reality of medical environments where instruments can be handled abruptly or dropped. Thanks to DuraShock technology, sphygmomanometers Welch Allyn:
- Maintain calibration longer than traditional geared sphygmos thus ensuring more accurate measurements
- They do not have to be replaced as frequently as traditional models, thus saving costs in the long run.
- They are equipped with the only pressure gauge that complies with the AAMI (Association for the Advancement of Medical) Instrumentation (resistant to drop from a height of 76 cm on a hard surface without any alteration of calibration).
How DuraShock technology works
In the traditional aneroid sphygmomanometer, several delicate gears and springs convert and amplify the vertical movement of the pinion into rotational motion to rotate the cursor. The gearless DuraShock technology uses a single helical spring to directly convert the vertical movement of the pinion gear into the rotary movement of the slider without the aid of multi-step gears. By creating a gearless system, Welch Allyn created a pressure gauge with fewer moving parts, impact-resistant, and lighter than traditional pressure gauges. Until now, accidental dropping of the sphygmomanometer required it to be recalibrated or replaced. DuraShock, on the other hand, can fall from a height of 76 cm on a hard surface while maintaining its accuracy, and is the only pressure gauge that complies with the AAMI shock resistance specification
