The MAGUS CHD20 is a digital camera that can be mounted on a microscope. It is designed to take photos and record research videos, edit them, and is also capable of measuring the linear and angular dimensions of objects and their structures. The device works with its own software, so it can be connected not only to a computer, but also directly to an external display. For this purpose, the camera is equipped with two types of interfaces: HDMI and USB.
The camera produces a high-quality Full HD image (1920x1080 px) and provides high frame rates and high data transfer rates between devices. It is equipped with a Sony sensor with high light sensitivity that can also work with fluorescent light. Another feature of this camera is the use of RGB mosaic filters. This reduces dark current and provides a sharp image. The entire camera system aims to create a high-quality image without tearing, blocking, or distortion, even if the subject being observed is moving.
Sensor
The color CMOS sensor of the Starvis series from SONY, with its small size (1/2'', 3.75x3.75 μm pixels), has a high photosensitivity (1175 mV with a shutter speed of 1/30 s) and allows you to shoot even in low light conditions. This is possible thanks to the use of backlight technology. To create the widest possible field of view without distortion, we recommend using an adapter with 0.5x to 0.7x magnification.
Software
The camera comes with an installation disc with software to operate the device. The built-in software allows the MAGUS CHD20 camera to operate autonomously to take photos and videos, process the results directly on the device, and even take measurements of the object. To take measurements, you must first calibrate the software for each objective using a calibration slide.
Connecting to external devices
The MAGUS CHD20 supports connection to an external display, a computer, as well as the integration of additional devices. The connection to a monitor, TV or projector is via the HDMI interface, at 60 fps. You can connect the camera to a computer via the USB 2.0 interface at 50 fps.
The camera has a 32GB SD card. Photos and videos can be saved on it and processed using the built-in software. The USB interface allows you to connect a flash drive.
It is recommended to use a mouse to operate camera applications. It is also included in the box and is designed to level out vibrations resulting from direct interaction with the camera.
The device can be combined with special MAGUS monitors, which are installed directly on the camera and create a microscope imaging system.
Mounting on a microscope
The camera can be inserted into the microscope eyepiece tube, connecting to it via a C-mount adapter and tube diameter adapter ring (sold separately). A C-mount adapter is used to install the device into the trinocular tube.
