Description
Plastic compass (ABS) with scale imprinted on an aluminum plate. Two-point discrimination highlights the ability to identify that two nearby objects touching the skin are two distinct points and not just one. The test is often done with two pointed ends during a neurological examination and indicates whether the skin area is properly innervated. Two-point discrimination is a reliable and widely used technique for identifying tactile agnosias. It is based on the patient's ability and/or willingness to subjectively recognize his sensations and should be performed by closing the eyes.
