This condenser is used for dark-field microscopy techniques. Its main application is the study of transparent samples that have not been treated with dyes and have a low light absorption index, which cannot be observed using bright-field techniques. It can only be used with dry objectives (without oil immersion), with an aperture up to 0.9 and magnification between 4x and 60x.
The MAGUS DF1 A dark-field condenser with an aperture of 0.9 must be mounted in the microscope frame in place of the Abbe condenser used for bright-field microscopy. Optimal contrast for the observed image is achieved using a coverslip with a thickness of 0.17 mm and a microscope slide with a thickness of 1–1.2 mm.
