Aerosol therapy is a method that is playing an increasingly important role in administering medications directly into the respiratory tract to treat numerous conditions of the nose, throat, bronchi and lungs.

An aerosol is a suspension of solid particles and/or liquid droplets that enter the respiratory tract through the mouth and nose, where they come into contact with the larynx, pharynx and trachea, and then reach the lungs, where they come into contact with the bronchial mucosa and alveoli, following precise laws of kinetics such as inertia, gravity and diffusion.

The nebulizer chamber is suitable for nebulizing essential oils.

The sedimentation of these particles is linked to their size.
Aerosol particles are considered to have a diameter of:

• > 5 microns for deposition in the upper airways

• between 2 and 6 microns for laryngotracheal deposition

• between 0.5 and 3 microns for alveolar deposition
