The MAGUS Pol 800 polarizing microscope is used to study anisotropic objects in transmitted polarized and ordinary light. The objects of study may be biological, geological or polymeric. The microscope's optics are strain-free, meaning they do not create parasitic refractions. They produce a clear, high-contrast, true-to-life image. The microscope's functionality is useful in various fields of science: medicine, forensic science, mineralogy, petrography, crystallography, etc.
Optics
The trinocular head is equipped with a trinocular tube for mounting a digital camera (camera not included). Using the switch on the body, light is directed entirely to the eyepiece tubes or to the digital camera. The 30° angle of the eyepiece tubes is comfortable for long-term observations and does not strain the neck muscles. The left tube has a diopter adjustment ring that rotates and adjusts the microscope optics to the user's individual vision.
The revolving nosepiece is designed to hold five objectives simultaneously, four of which are already included in the package. An additional objective from the MAGUS accessories range can be purchased separately. All objectives are designed for use with cover glasses 0.17 mm thick. Thanks to the “away-from-the-observer” nosepiece design, the objective in the optical path is clearly visible during work, making the researcher's work more convenient. The slots in the nosepiece are centered.
Illumination
The light source is located below the stage, so observations are made using transmitted light. The 30 W halogen lamp provides bright, eye-friendly illumination suitable for use with all objectives. Adjusting the illumination using the Köhler method enables higher contrast and better image quality.
The microscope is equipped with a polarizer and an analyzer. To work with polarized light, the analyzer is introduced into the optical path, and the polarization angle is changed by rotating the polarizer and analyzer relative to each other. The microscope also has an intermediate tube that holds a Bertrand lens and has a slot for compensators. Compensators improve the contrast of samples with low birefringence, and the Bertrand lens is designed for conoscopic studies.
Stage and focusing mechanism
The microscope stage rotates, allowing the refraction of light by the sample to be changed quickly when working with polarized light. The stage is centered relative to the microscope's optical axis and has a rotation-angle scale that allows the angle to be determined with an accuracy of 0.1°.
The focusing mechanism provides coarse and fine sharpness adjustment. Coarse focusing can be locked, and the coarse tension can also be adjusted for more comfortable control.
Accessories
Optional eyepieces, objectives, digital cameras and calibration slides are available for the microscope. They expand the microscope's capabilities to meet researchers' needs.
