Gear-free DuraShock technology uses a single coil spring to convert the vertical movement of the pinion directly into rotational movement of the pointer without the aid of multistage gears.

By creating a gear-free system, Welch Allyn has developed a gauge with fewer moving parts that is shock-resistant and lighter than traditional gauges.
