Sterile amniocentesis needles are designed for the transabdominal collection of amniotic fluid, ideally between the 15th and 18th weeks of gestation, for the prenatal diagnosis of fetal genetic defects. They are also used for cytogenetic and biochemical tests. Their precision sharpening ensures easy, atraumatic penetration. The stylet has an echogenic tip for ultrasound-guided insertion and is color-coded for rapid identification of the needle size. The needle includes a sliding stop to determine the insertion depth and a female luer-lock connector for collecting amniotic fluid with a syringe.
