AUDIOMETER PA5
Portable pediatric audiometer for air conduction, sound-field testing and visual stimulation. Thanks to the headset, it can also be used for routine adult screening. It helps doctors assess the auditory behavior of newborns and children up to 24 months of age using specific tests:
Eyelid Reflex Test (APR)
The APR test involves eliciting an eyelid reflex with some relatively loud sounds and can be performed on newborns from the day of birth. It does not require the child’s cooperation.
Orientation Reflex Test (COR)
Based on the phenomenon known as the “orientation reflex,” a natural reflex elicited by a sound or visual stimulation. The child is presented several times with a visual stimulus accompanied by a sound; at a certain point, if conditioning is effective, the child will look in the direction of the sound even before the visual stimulus is presented.
Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA)
An extension and modification of COR, where cooperation from the child is less important. It accepts not only the orientation and sound-localization reflexes, but also four other reactions: reflex reactions (body and face), search reactions, orientation reactions and spontaneous reactions.
Assessment of the progression of auditory and audiometric responses
Various stimuli are presented at different intensities, frequencies and durations, and from different sound directions, to elicit specific reactions in the child, such as waking, crying, surprise and direct localization of the sound.
