Ultrasound is a high-frequency sound (above 20 kHz) that is usually inaudible to the human ear but is disturbingly felt by many insects, parasites and rodents that move away from environments, people and pets. Emissions at a constant frequency have been shown to cause addiction and reduce the repellent effect over time. Ultrasound radiates outward in a conical shape (like the light from a headlight). They cannot overcome solid objects (walls, furniture) on which they are reflected, go around corners and are absorbed by soft objects (carpets, curtains, etc.).
