Medical device for the removal of tracheobronchial secretions PULMOWAVES2
The PulmoWaves2 medical device from FLAEM NUOVA is designed for respiratory physiotherapy and the removal of tracheobronchial secretions. This device combines the benefits of three different treatments in a single system.
The accumulation of secretions in the respiratory system can occur for various reasons, such as thoracic or abdominal surgeries requiring prolonged anesthesia and limited mobility, which can affect the patient's physical and mental recovery. Reduced thoracic and abdominal mobility decreases respiratory amplitude and oxygen delivery, causing increased or stagnant secretions. Debilitated patients are often unable to cough effectively to clear secretions.
In other cases, serious pathologies cause abnormal production of secretions or abnormalities in mucociliary clearance, such as in ciliary dyskinesia or cystic fibrosis, with the related complications.
The system consists of a pneumatic compressor, a nebulizer, and a dispenser with a PEP device. The compressor generates vibrations activated by the patient's inhalation, which can be adjusted via a flow regulator on the console. These vibrations help clear mucus blockages in the airways.
To prevent airway drying, the inspired flow draws in the saline aerosol produced by the nebulizer. The therapy includes a five-position adjustable PEP device to manage the expiratory phase, with flow intensity measurable via a central manometer. The device can also be used without a nebulizer.
Opening the airways
Its operation is based on the generation of vibrations by a pneumatic compressor that is automatically activated by the patient's inhalation action.
These vibrations, the amplitude of which can be adjusted via the flow regulator located on the device's console, help remove mucus deposits that obstruct the airways.
Expectoration and removal of mucus
The PEP (Positive Expiratory Pressure) device, adjustable to 5 settings, manages the expiratory phase. Flow intensity is measured using the new, practical LED pressure gauge located in the central area of the dashboard, which is easy to read and clean. Breathing with the PEP creates positive endobronchial pressure during the expiratory phase. This keeps the airways open longer throughout the entire expiration phase. This device can also be used as an alternative therapeutic solution without a nebulizer.
Lubrication of the airways
PulmoWaves 2 integrates the activity of the PEP device and pneumatic compressor with the benefits of a new pneumatic nebulizer equipped with an RF8 nebulizer. To prevent drying out of the airways during treatment, the patient's inhaled air draws in the saline aerosol produced by the nebulizer, providing constant lubrication of the treated airways.
