The MAGUS Pol 850 polarizing microscope is designed to operate in transmitted and reflected light. Available search methods: polarization and brightfield. The microscope is used to study anibiological, geological, and anisotropic polymer objects, as well as matte glossy sections up to 15 mm thick with a glossy side. The microscope is perfect for a wide range of tasks of professionals in the fields of medicine, forensics, mineralogy, crystallography or petrography.
Optical
The optics of the microscope are infinitely correct and are free of internal tensions. The image formed by the lens is authentic, glare-free, high-contrast and detailed. The lens is installed in a nosepiece with grooves centered on the optical axis. There are five grooves, with four objectives included in the kit you can install an additional objective lens to achieve additional magnification within the microscope's magnification range. The objectives are designed to work with specimens without coverslips.
The trinocular head allows you to install a digital camera (not included) in the trinocular tube. The beam split is 100:0 or 0:100, meaning all the light goes to the camera or eyepiece tubes. The left eyepiece tube is equipped with a diopter adjustment ring: it is rotated to compensate for the difference in vision between the eyes and to obtain the clearest possible image of the sample.
Lighting
30 W halogen lamps are used for transmitted and reflected light. Their brightness is sufficient to obtain a clearly readable image on each lens, and the "warm" emission spectrum is comfortable during long-term use. The Köhler lighting setting will provide higher resolution and remove artifacts in the field of view and darkening at the edges. Light filters are used to fine-tune color reproduction when working in reflected light.
Polarization is available for both transmitted and reflected light. To begin observations in polarized light, an analyzer is introduced into the optical path. Subsequently, the relative position of the analyzer and polarizer is changed by rotating them, which also changes the polarization angle. The contrast of the objects is increased with the help of compensators installed in a special housing in the intermediate tube. The same mount also contains a Bertrand lens that is used for conoscopic examinations.
Stage and focusing mechanism
The microscope has a rotatable table: rotating it changes the way the sample refracts light in the presence of polarized light. The stage is equipped with a scale on which the angle of rotation can be determined with an accuracy of up to 0.1°. To obtain the brightest and clearest image, the stage can be centered relative to the optical axis of the microscope.
The coarse and fine focus knobs are located at the bottom of the mount, so the user can assume a relaxed pose with their hands on the table. The coarse tension can be adjusted and there is also a coarse focus lock. The fine focus ensures smooth movement of the sample.
