The MAGUS CHD50 is a camera designed to be integrated with a microscope. The device has built-in software that can be used to take photos and videos, process results, and take measurements of the subject. Three types of interfaces (HDMI, WLAN, and USB 2.0) connect the camera to a computer or other device that can display photos and videos. The 8 MP sensor creates high-quality images with 4K resolution (3840x2160 px) and the camera can automatically switch to Full HD playback (1920x1080 px) if required by the external display. The video frame rate is 30fps. The device is equipped with an autofocus function. The result is a high-quality, realistic and detailed image with no lag, tearing or blurring, even if the subject is moving.
Sensor
The device is built on an 8MP Starvis SONY CMOS sensor. The backlight method produces a light sensitivity of 505 mV at a shutter speed of 1/30th of a second. The sensor size is 1/1.8'' with a pixel size of 2.0x2.0 μm. To create the widest field of view without warping, use an adapter with 0.5x to 0.75x magnification.
Software
The camera can be connected to a computer via USB 2.0 and WLAN as well as to a TV, monitor or projector via the HDMI connector. With an HDMI connection, the camera automatically focuses on the subject, resulting in sharp photos or videos without any extra effort. The software allows you to edit the resulting image as well as measure the linear and angular dimensions of objects and their structures. To take measurements, calibrate the camera software for each lens using a calibration slide.
Microscope Installation
You can integrate the camera with the microscope by installing it in the trinocular tube or eyepiece tube instead of an eyepiece. In either case, you will need a C-mount adapter. An adapter ring that fits its diameter will also be required to connect to the eyepiece tube.
Additional devices
For more efficient operation, it is recommended to connect the camera with additional devices. Using a mouse will remove shake when you come into direct contact with the camera (connects via the USB port). You can save photos and videos to an SD card or flash drive. Special MAGUS monitors can be used to create a complete imaging system. They can be installed directly on the camera and integrated with any MAGUS microscope.
