LH Benzalcolferri 1.000 ml

LH Benzalcolferri is a ready-to-use benzalkonium chloride-based hydroalcoholic solution, with the addition of an anticorrosive agent indicated for the disinfection and storage of invasive and non-invasive medical devices.

Areas of application:
Hydroalcoholic solution based on Benzalkonium chloride for the disinfection and storage of surgical instruments, invasive and non-invasive medical devices and biomedical equipment. The solution boasts bactericidal, yeasticidal, fungicidal and virucidal (encapsulated viruses) action at 10 minutes of contact time. The product is also active against fungal spores. To ensure the myco-bactericidal action, the contact time can be extended to 60 minutes.

How to use:
It is used as it is, without dilution, for the disinfection and storage of medical devices in general:
- For disinfection: soak medical devices in the solution for 10 minutes, after washing and drying them. Remove them with aseptic methodology and wash them with sterile water.
- For storage: leave the devices immersed in the solution until the next use, after washing and drying them for a maximum period of 24 hours. For use, withdraw the device aseptically and rinse it with sterile water.
Keep the container containing the solution closed.

Mechanism of action:
Quaternary ammonium salts act on proteins, causing their denaturation; intervening in metabolic reactions, with action on enzymes at the level of the cytoplasmic membrane; acting on cell permeability: Benzalkonium chloride is absorbed on the outer layers of the cytoplasmic membrane on which it performs a lysis action. The destruction of the cell is the result of bonds that form between the quaternary and the cytoplasmic constituents with lower molecular weight.
The action of ethyl alcohol is to be attributed, on the other hand, to the ability to denature the proteins of the microbial cytoplasmic membrane.
