Silk initially causes an acute inflammatory reaction in the tissue, followed by progressive encapsulation by connective tissue fibers. Despite their non-absorbable nature, silk fibers degrade over time, resulting in a gradual loss of tensile strength. Therefore, they are not recommended in situations that require permanent tensile strength.

The sutures undergo a Perma-Hand dewaxing process and are colored black with a special wax mixture. This unique process, which involves dewaxing the raw thread before braiding, ensures a purified suture with uniform gauge. The compact weave offers high strength and superior handling compared to other suture materials.
