Description

Sofargen Gel is a topical water-based dressing containing Silver Sulfadiazine.

Gel with a high aqueous content (over 95%), keeps the lesion hydrated by promoting the tissue repair process, creates a barrier to external agents by protecting the injured skin thanks to the presence of silver. It also promotes debridement in necrotic lesions. The presence of Silver Sulfadiazine, a metal-organic compound obtained by reaction of silver nitrate with Sulfadiazine, prevents microbial contamination of the dressing and keeps the wound environment free of other exogenous bacteria.

The particular formulation of the product creates an environment that facilitates the natural healing process and provides an effective barrier to microbial penetration. The product remains easily "in situ" and is not affected by stretching of the wound edges. It can be easily removed by cleaning the lesion with saline.

How to use:
After appropriate cleansing of the lesion, apply a uniform layer of Sofargen Gel 2 to 3 mm thick to the affected surfaces. The gel can be applied either directly to the lesions, or previously applied on a sterile gauze to obtain the moisturizing effect or on a polyurethane or semi-occlusive dressing as a detergent. Sofargen Gel is also a valid substitute for the most commonly used hydrogels. The application of the gel should continue without interruption once or twice a day, as long as there is a possibility of infection and until complete healing, both in spontaneous and surgical repairs. Each time the application is renewed, thoroughly clean the lesions with water or saline.

Components:
Purified water, glycerol, carbopol 974P, sodium hydroxide, micronized sulfadiazine silver.

Warnings:
Patients with established individual hypersensitivity to the components should not use the product. It is recommended not to use the product for more than 4 weeks. Consult your doctor if you have incomplete healing or if you experience any undesirable symptoms. In case of accidental ingestion, consult your doctor. The gel may tend to turn brown if left exposed to light, due to the silver ion present in the formulation. However, this phenomenon does not compromise its efficacy and safety. Do not apply the product together with liquid or solid disinfectants. Close the tube after each application. In pregnant women and young children, use the product on the advice of your doctor. It should be used for the treatment of only minor lesions. The product is not for ophthalmic use. Keep out of reach and sight of children.

Effects:
Transient burning sensations or irritation may occur, but without consequences and rare local allergic reactions. If you experience any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Preservation:
Store below 40 °C. Do not use the product beyond the expiry date indicated on the packaging. This date refers to the product in intact packaging correctly stored.

Validity when packaging is intact:
36 months.

Format:
25g aluminum tube.
