VICRYL RAPID BRAIDED - Sterile absorbable surgical suture

Vicryl Rapide sutures (polyglactin 910) are braided, coated, absorbable synthetic sutures composed of a copolymer of glycolic acid (90%) and lactic acid (10%).
Although it is an absorbable synthetic suture, the characteristics of Vicryl Rapide are designed to model the performance of collagen sutures.

Vicryl Rapide sutures are indicated for soft tissue approximation where only brief wound support is required (7–10 days) and rapid suture absorption is preferred. They are not indicated for ligament, ophthalmic, cardiovascular, or neurological surgery.
The progressive loss of tensile strength and eventual absorption of Vicryl Rapide occurs through hydrolysis. Absorption begins as a loss of tensile strength followed by a loss of mass.
