What material is Airlaid + PE?
Airlaid + PE is a composite material used to produce absorbent and durable products.
- Airlaid is a non-woven fabric, obtained from cellulose fibers that are randomly arranged and bonded together by a compressed air process (hence the name "airlaid"). This process makes the material soft, absorbent and similar to fabric, but more robust than traditional paper. Airlaid is particularly appreciated for its high absorbency and its resistance even when wet.
- PE (Polyethylene) is a lightweight, waterproof plastic film that is applied to the side of the material. The PE coating adds water resistance, creating a waterproof barrier that prevents liquids from spilling.
The combination of Airlaid and PE makes it possible to create disposable products that are absorbent, skin-friendly and moisture-resistant, such as washing gloves, placemats and sanitary linens.
