VICRYL RAPID BRAIDED - Absorbable Sterile Surgical Suture

Vicryl Rapide sutures (polyglactin 910) are absorbable, braided and coated synthetic sutures composed of a copolymer of glycolic acid (90%) and lactic acid (10%).
Despite being an absorbable synthetic suture, the features of Vicryl Rapide are designed to model the performance of collagen sutures.

Vicryl Rapide sutures are indicated for soft tissue approximation where only short wound support is required (7 – 10 days) and rapid suture absorption is preferred. It is not indicated for ligament, ophthalmic, cardiovascular or neurological surgery.
The progressive loss of tensile strength and eventual absorption of Vicryl Rapide occurs by hydrolysis. Absorption begins as loss of tensile strength followed by loss of mass.
