The MAGUS Metal 600 metallographic microscope is designed for the study of opaque samples (metals, alloys, paint coatings, semiconductors and other materials) in reflected light with brightfield and polarized light microscopy technique. The microstructures of polished flat samples can be studied. The transmitted light illuminator also allows the examination of particles stuck on filters and translucent materials (such as films) with the microscope. The microscope is suitable for research and analysis conducted by geologists, metallurgists, engineers, archaeologists, and specialists in other scientific fields.
Digital camera
The MAGUS CBF30 digital camera allows you to take photographs and short videos through a microscope, edit the resulting files, organize presentations, and perform linear and angular measurements of objects (after proper calibration).
The device is designed to work on microscopes using the brightfield method and 4x, 10x, 20x, and 40x objectives.
The 6.3 MP sensor allows you to take photos and produce bright and detailed videos at a maximum resolution of 3072x2048 px. If necessary, the resolution can be reduced to 1536x1024 px. However, this will not affect the frame rate, which will remain at 59fps, thus ensuring smooth frame transitions without jerks or lags.
The CMOS sensor SONY Colour backlit Exmor allows you to use the camera even in low light conditions. The image will remain legible and bright. Using an adapter with 0.5x to 0.75x magnification will provide the clearest image possible, without distortion.
Optical
The trinocular head is equipped with a trinocular tube for mounting on the camera (not included). The light beam can take two positions: 100:0 or 0:100, i.e. the light beam can be directed at the digital camera or the eyepiece tube. The trinocular head is tilted at 30°, making it ideal for long-lasting observations. On the left barrel there is a diopter adjustment ring.
In the basic configuration, the magnification of the microscope ranges from 50x to 600x. To increase the maximum magnification limit, additional eyepieces can be mounted. The nosepiece is oriented towards the inside of the instrument. Five lenses can be mounted at the same time: four are included in the kit and one slot is free for installing an additional lens. The microscope is equipped with planachromatic objectives with a long working distance suitable for brightfield microscopy.
Lighting
The microscope is equipped with transmitted and reflected light illumination systems. Both use 30 W halogen lamps with adjustable brightness, powered by AC power. Halogen lamps emit light with a colour temperature that ensures greater eye comfort.
The microscope is equipped with polarization tools for reflected light observations: a built-in analyzer and a removable polarizer. The aperture and field diaphragms make it possible to set the Köhler illumination. Color filters are also included in the kit. The openings and the reflected light source can be centered.
The transmitted light lighting system uses a traditional Abbe condenser, whose position can be adjusted in two ways: centered and height-adjusted. It is completed by a flip-up lens that allows it to be used with low-magnification objectives. There are field diaphragms and an aperture, which allow the Köhler method of illumination to be used.
Stage and focusing mechanism
The maximum height of the sample that can be placed on the stage is 20 mm. The sample can be moved by moving the stage along the two axes. It is equipped with a slide to be used for observing opaque specimens.
Coarse and fine focus mechanisms are used for focus adjustment. The focus is smooth and precise. The coarse focus is equipped with a fixing knob and the tension of the coarse screw can be adjusted. The focus knobs are coaxially positioned on both sides, so that you don't have to keep your hands in the air while observing, but comfortably on the table.
