AlbacMat RescueMat is an emergency rescue mat designed to glide over all types of surfaces. It has the design of a roll-up stretcher with polypropylene padding that stored in its bag is half the size of a rolled-up sleeping bag and weighs only two kilograms. Built with heat-resistant material, AlbacMat RescueMat can also be dragged by a single rescuer, allowing rescues and evacuations to be carried out in the shortest time physically possible.
Strengths:
- Safe: AlbacMat RescueMat has been designed with rescuer and patient safety at the center
- Effective: The ability of the AlbacMat RescueMat to easily move over most surfaces, including stairs, carpet, and concrete, allows for improved efficiency when evacuating a facility.
- Single Operator: Evacuations can be performed by one person per patient in most situations, which is essential when time is critical.
- Universal: AlbacMat RescueMat is totally independent of its environment. No matter where the patient is: in bed, in the bathroom or in the hallway, they can still be placed on the AlbacMat RescueMat and brought to safety.
- Ready to Use: Its compact, lightweight design and ease of storage and transport allow the rescuer to immediately have the AlbacMat RescueMat in case of emergency.
AlbacMat RescueMat is an emergency device for rescue and evacuation activities that allows all patients suffering from physical disabilities or mobility difficulties to be transported quickly and safely.
Mainly used in settings such as nursing homes, hospitals, schools, hotels and other public and private buildings, AlbacMat RescueMat can also be used in extremely confined spaces such as aircraft and train compartments and also as a rescue device for confined spaces. Thanks to its lightweight and compact design, it can also be transported by rescue and emergency vehicles.
AlbacMat RescueMat is a flexible stretcher consisting of a thin sheet of vinyl joined to a flexible polycarbonate base. It is equipped with three patient fastening belts, a pocket for positioning the feet, an isothermal blanket, a long pull handle at the end of the head and a shorter one at the end of the feet, as well as six other side handles for the positioning of additional rescuers.
The AlbacMat RescueMat is available in two sizes, standard or large, and is suitable for use with both adult and pediatric patients due to the different positioning of the fastening belts. The large version is about 30 cm wider than the standard one at torso height, thus allowing the insertion of any additional padding or protections for very elderly or more fragile patients.
How AlbacMat RescueMat works:
The Albacmat RescueMat is stored inside its high-visibility transport bag and equipped with clear pictograms illustrating the instructions for use. It can be hung on the wall or stored together with other materials intended for emergency management. The AlbacMat RescueMat transport bag measures only 38 cm x 20 cm x 18 cm and this allows easy storage and transport of the device in all conditions.
In an emergency, simply bring the AlbacMat RescueMat close to the patient to be evacuated, pull the blue Velcro fastener and unroll the mattress next to the patient: this can be done on the floor, on a bed or on a traditional or wheelchair chair. Once the patient has been transferred, it is important to check that his feet are inserted in the special pocket of the AlbacMat RescueMat to avoid any risk of slipping during transport along flights of stairs. The isothermal blanket can be used to cover the patient and the Velcro belts can be attached in multiple ways to ensure maximum patient safety during transport.
The AlbacMat RescueMat has a polypropylene base that absorbs bumps during transport and allows it to move easily on most surfaces, offering handling that makes it easier for rescuers to operate.
The AlbacMat RescueMat can also be stored in a special wall bracket that can hold up to four mats and can be quickly picked up during an emergency situation and taken to rescuers who need it.
Safety Rules:
AlbacMat RescueMat has been subjected to breaking tests with loads up to 500 kg, however it is not recommended to use it in the presence of bariatric patients whose size could hardly adapt to the dimensions of AlbacMat RescueMat for a completely safe evacuation. The AlbacMat RescueMat also does not have traction handles long enough to allow all the operators necessary to move a bariatric patient to operate with the correct posture.
It is strongly recommended to use AlbacMat RescueMat with patients weighing no more than 160 kg.
It is recommended that at least two rescuers operate the AlbacMat RescueMat during evacuation operations. To reduce the risk of injuries to personnel, it would be advisable that the weight towed was not greater than the sum of that of the two operators: normally the safe working load for two rescuers is about 120 kg.
Cleaning and Care:
In general, it is advisable to clean the AlbacMat RescueMat after each evacuation or personnel training operation.
To do this, you can use a damp cloth and then a towel before finishing air drying. Antibacterial disinfectants and wipes may also be used, although undiluted chemicals are not recommended. The AlbacMat RescueMat should only be stored in its bag after it has been completely dried to prevent mould growth.
In the event that body fluids have contaminated the AlbacMat RescueMat, it is recommended to replace it to avoid cross-contamination the next time it is used.
If AlbacMat RescueMat is used for real evacuation involving prolonged dragging on road surfaces or gravel, the polypropylene floor may wear out to the point where it is no longer suitable for subsequent use. In this case, we recommend replacing the old AlbacMat RescueMat with a new one.
After use and washing, always check the integrity of the seams, Velcro belts, handles and any other component of the AlbacMat RescueMat and in case of damage, replace the product with a new one.
