Aerosol therapy is a methodology that increasingly occupies a role of enormous importance in the administration of drugs directly into the respiratory tract to treat numerous diseases of the nose, throat, bronchi and lungs.

The aerosol is a suspension of solid particles and/or drops of liquid that through the mouth and nose, penetrate the respiratory tract where they come into contact with the larynx, pharynx, trachea and then reach the lungs where they come into contact with the bronchial mucosa and alveoli, respecting precise laws of kinetics such as inertia, gravity and diffusion.

The ampoule is suitable for nebulizing essential oils.

The sedimentation of these particles is related to their size.
Aerosol particles are believed to have a diameter:

• > 5 microns for deposition in the upper airway

• between 2 and 6 microns for laryngotracheal deposition

• between 0.5 and 3 microns for alveolar deposition
