This test is performed from a distance of 30-40 cm and allows to evaluate the cooperation between the two eyes in forming a single image in the brain from the two images perceived separately by each eye. It can be used with children from one year and adults if strabismus, amblyopia or decreased vision in one or both eyes is suspected.

The GIMA tests for stereopsis contain a ball, a fish, a star, and a tree. The ball can be seen by only one eye.
